Responsible Family Fishing

Responsible Family Fishing

Posted by Sena Wheeler on

We love sharing our passion with our kids, as it was passed down to us, and we know other Alaska fishing families feel the same way.

For that lineage to continue, we need to fish as responsibly as possible so our kids and their kids can enjoy all that the wild Alaska sea, and all the bounty in it, has to offer.

As a 5th generation fishing family, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our commitment to preserving the long-term future of fish species and the health of the oceans is unwavering.

We are dedicated to maintaining a healthy fishery and are honored that you trust us to provide you with healthy, sustainable fish.

Fishing Methods

  • Salmon: Caught by small gillnet boats (1-2 fishermen per boat).
  • Halibut, Black Cod, and Groundfish: Caught by longline boats (1-4 fishermen per boat).

Eating the Whole Fish

We promote responsible use of wild resources by utilizing the whole fish to minimize waste.

  • Collars and Chop: Small pieces and meat scraped from the backbone.
  • Smoked Tails and Trimmings: Used in our spreads.
  • Fish Patties: Made with premium Copper River sockeye meat scraped from the backbones, which would otherwise go to waste.

So much hard work and generations of families with their own kids keep into this industry strong, and sustain its health so that it continues to give us the best bounty fish for the long haul.
