Everyone seemed to be as interested in meeting us as we were to meet them.

The little house that my grandpa Lars was raised in (along with 13 siblings, 14 kids total) has stayed in the family and is now used as a rental and meeting place for the family on the island of Valderoy, Norway.

The walls are covered in old historical pictures of the family - my great-grandparents Hans and Maria Jangaard, grandpa Lars as a young man, and even the sweetest pictures of my mom (looking exactly like my sister) back in America...plus a whole stairwell dedicated to the boats of course.

A mom that works for a fish company, a 16 yr old daughter that plays soccer (futbol) just like my daughter, and a third cousin that looked like a twin to my older sister.

Overall, it was a truly fulfilling experience to connect with our heritage and relatives we've always known about but never known.
