Rich and I are pretty good at doing things the hard way - that was literally our parenting motto when the kids were young. "Do it the hard way - put the work in up front and it will be easier later." We've never shied away from hard work and doing things the right way.
The hard way is how we started Sena Sea. When you catch the fish, custom process to the highest standards, and then figure out how to get that premium product to direct to everyone's doorstep...you have to roll up your sleeves and do the work.
Sometimes it's hard. Not a problem.
But sometimes you need to rest. Hmmm, still figuring that one out...
This year, we will just have to work hard at relaxing since apparently that's the only way we know how to do things. ha!
Ok, I do know one thing about easy though.
I know how to make healthy eating easy.
The key to healthy eating is a little upfront work to make the rest easy. The first step to healthy eating is the planning and purchasing. It's probably the hardest part, but also the most important.
Imagine driving home from work- your tired and you don't have any idea what to cook for dinner. Just the thought of figuring something out, stopping at the store, and then cooking makes take-out all of a sudden seem like a great idea.
However, if you've already planned a couple of meals and done the shopping, then you're driving home just thinking about which meal you're going to cook and chuckling at everyone waiting in the long drive-through line.
Just having healthy options ready to go is a total game changer. It makes healthy eating easy.
I can cook marinated ginger blackcod about as easily as dino nuggets.
I just pull one portion for each person right out of the freezer and put them in cold water. Meanwhile, I cook the rice in the rice cooker with some broccoli or green beans steaming on top. Once the oven is hot, I just put the fish on a baking sheet with any other veggies I have on hand and drizzle the marinade over everything. While the fish is cooking, I throw together a salad.
Fish, rice and veggies. So easy and so delicious.
You can mix it up too. Salmon with garlic, lemon and olive oil. Halibut with feta and dill. Rockfish slathered with pesto sauce. It really is that easy!
No difficult recipes and no stress.
The key is simple- just have healthy ingredients ready to go in your fridge or freezer.
