The Problem with Farmed Fish

The Problem with Farmed Fish

Posted by Sena Wheeler on

The issue with farmed fish lies in its negative health and environmental implications.

Farmed fish often receive additives, hormones, antibiotics, and dyes, posing potential health risks to consumers.

Additionally, the diseases and pests associated with fish farms can contaminate rivers and harm wild fish populations, undermining conservation efforts.

The approval of genetically modified (GMO) fish for human consumption exacerbates these problems, posing potential threats to both human health and wild fish.

Furthermore, farmed fish is often labeled as sustainable and positioned as taking pressure off the wild fish population. Both of which are not true in my opinion.

I want to make sure you have the tools to avoid farmed fish!
  • Always check labels for wild when purchasing fish
  • Ask for Alaska because there is no fish farming allowed in the state of Alaska
  • Avoid Atlantic Salmon because it's always farmed
you deserve the best fish
Everything on our website is always wild and sustainable, and caught in the cold pristine waters of Alaska by fishermen we know and trust.
