It’s a unique fishery, as the golden king crab can be up to 500 fathoms deep, and the geographical distribution is largely unknown. We are working with the Alaska Board of Fisheries to collect information on the legal male catch rate, male size composition, and distribution of golden king crabs; to develop a sustainable harvest strategy for the inside waters of Prince William Sound.
Wild Alaskan Bairdi Snow Crab (also called tanner crab) is sustainably caught with pots in Prince William Sound.
This Bairdi crab is the very sweetest of all the snow crab species, characterized by a sweet, rich, succulent flavor. They are similar to opilio snow crab but larger with a better fill and preferred taste and texture.
Snow crab legs are easier to handle than king crab legs; the smooth shell is easy to break and maneuver.
Snow Crab Cluster:
- 3 legs and 1 claw in the shell
- each cluster weighs 12-14 ounces
- Fully cooked and frozen in the shell
- Ready to crack and eat
- Wild and sustainable, never farmed!
For crab, a standard serving size is 1 lb per person, or .5 lb per person when serving as surf and turf.
Fully cooked and ready to eat. Simply defrost (in the refrigerator overnight), and reheat if desired (bake, steam, or bbq at 325 for 4 minutes).
